소개

한국컴퓨터그래픽스학회 주최로 2016년 7월 13일-14일에 걸쳐 제3회 컴퓨터 그래픽스 여름학교를 개최합니다. 본 여름학교는 2016 한국컴퓨터그래픽스 학술대회와 연계 개최되어 학술대회를 참여하는 연구자들이 컴퓨터그래픽스의 몇 가지 주제들에 대하여 심도 있는 지식을 습득할 수 있도록 기획 되었습니다. 이번 여름학교에는 가상 현실, 기계 학습, 딥 러닝 분야에서 활발한 연구 결과를 내고 계시는 세 분의 연사를 모시고 각 분야의 기초 지식을 학습하고 심화 주제에 대하여 토론하는 기회를 마련하였으니 많은 참여를 부탁 드립니다.

Haptics is an interdisciplinary field that studies the fundamental science and technology for the sense of touch. Haptic technology is used for a wide variety of applications in virtual-reality, human-computer interaction, and robotics. This tutorial will cover the basic concepts, algorithms, and use cases in haptics for both kinesthetic and tactile feedback, as well as discussion on the potential of haptics to interactive applications.

연사소개
Seungmoon Choi is a professor of computers science and engineering at POSTECH. received the BS and MS degrees in control and instrumentation engineering from Seoul National University in 1995 and 1997, respectively, and the PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University in 2003. He is the recipient of the 2011 Early Career Award from IEEE Technical Committee on Haptics. His research interest lies on include haptic rendering and perception, with application to VR, HCI, and robotics.

Virtual reality technology is to provide realistic experiences in cyberspace. With rapid advances in hardware technology, it is receiving great interests from markets. To provide realistic experiences, it is necessary to design believable interactions in many difference modalities which includes visual, auditory, and haptic. This talk consists of two parts. The first part is to introduce current state of the art in both hardware and software technology to provide realistic experience in virtual environment. In the second part, a new approach to give sensory illusions will be discussed with examples and possible applications.

약력: HyungSeok Kim is Professor in the department of internet & multimedia engineering in Konkuk University. He received Ph.D in Computer Science from KAIST in 2002. Before joining Konkuk university, he was a senior researcher in MIRALab., University of Geneva from 2003 to 2006. His main research interests are realtime rendering, virtual reality and multimodal interactions.

Machine learning has gained great popularity these days. It is a research field that learns from and make prediction on data, which has a wide variety of applications ranging from simple predictions to more complex systems that mimic human perception and reasoning. The first part of this tutorial will cover the basic concepts and problems in machine learning such as classification, regression, clustering, or dimension reduction. High-level description of selected algorithms will be introduced as well. In the second part, more recent approaches such as deep learning and the applications for computer graphics and computer vision will be discussed.

약력: Kyung-Ah Sohn is an Assistant Professor in the department of Software and Computer Engineering at Ajou University. She received her Ph.D in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 2011, and the BS (2000) and MS (2003) degree in Computer Engineering and Mathematics, respectively, from Seoul National University. She was a Research  Assistant Professor at College of Medicine, Seoul Natinal University for 2012, and a Research Staff Member at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology from 2003 to 2005.
